Dive Fest

What is it with the UK an Bank Holidays? Fab weather all week, then the bank holiday comes and it suddenly changes … Oh,yes, it’s the UK! It’s 20 degrees one minute and struggling to rise above freezing the next. The rubbish weather never stops BEFX crew from having a great weekend though...
Dive Fest, in its second year, is billed as the Party on the Beach, and had plenty going on both in the water and on land. There were ample opportunities to get wet from the beach and see the wildlife Cornwall has to offer, plus a photography competition to boot. However, it proved far too cold for the ‘Sharmers’—if the sea temperature is below 20 degrees, forget it! There was plenty to keep our warm water staff members amused—pirate re-enactments, a circus school and dance classes to name a few.
BEFX was there in force to support Debs when she collected Third Prize for the Professional Category Video of the British Underwater Image Festival. Renowned BBC natural history filmmaker, Peter Scoones, who had some great tips for future projects, presented the prize. This was a first for Debs, who has never managed to be in the same country as the prize-giving ceremonies for the film festivals until now. We were all bursting with pride and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Well done us!
