LIDS

London’s Excel in Docklands played host to the London International Dive Show (LIDS) on a typical British March weekend. It was cold, wet and gloomy outside, but inside was buzzing. Debs and Gina were there to represent Blue Eye FX—for the third dive show of the year—which had productions being played on multiple stands. Iris—Red Sea Art By Nature was being aired on the CDWS stand and pulling quite a crowd. Iris has become a well-travelled lady—with outings to Dusseldorf, Paris and London so far this year. Trips to Moscow, Malaysia and Birmingham are scheduled for later in the year with the CDWS.

Aspiring Depths, Characters of Egypt and Oceano were being played on a loop on the stand of Worldwide Social Networking, and drawing attention and questions from the passing crowds. For the girls, it was a great opportunity to network and touch base with friends and colleagues in the industry, where paths may cross only a few times each year.

There was also a fantastic surprise in store for BEFX. Debs and Gina were advised that Aspiring Depths had won a prize at the British Underwater Image Festival—hosted by Dive Magazine—however their ‘inside contact’ couldn’t tell them which prize BEFX had won. The girls waited with baited breath for the official confirmation and the good news was that Aspiring Depths had claimed its third international film festival award with third place. That piece of excellent news rounded off a great weekend.
